The VaaaaKaaay
I just got home this week from my first ever Friends Group vacation. A group of four families all went in together and we rented a house in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. I was completely nervous about it because the group was entirely my husbands friends from college and their wives and families. I know everyone of course but mostly just from social gatherings. We don't do alot of one-on-one hanging out. So to be in a house with everyone for a week, well honestly it just made me nervous. Well my fears were all wrong. I had a really good time and got along great with everyone. The kids in the group where ages 5, 3.5, 2 and 8 months. They were all pretty much angles the whole week. No one was spinning out of control or anything! The only thing I would look forward to next time is that maybe my son would be old enough to sleep in another room with the bigger kids so I could sleep a bit better. We had him in an air bed on the floor and he did fine with that. But like clockwork at 4 am he would want to get into the bed with us and scream if we refused. Because we had others sleep to consider he won every time and once he was in the bed with us. I did get much sleep. It was hi mommy. Kiss Mommy, mommy move the blanket....... oy.
The house was beautiful and had a pool and hot tub. We spent alot of time in the pool and nick started doing so good with his swimming. He would actually step off the third step and kick his little legs like anything. I of course had him in his little swimie vest. The beach there was great as well. The water is calm and clear compared to what I am used to. Nick had a blast throwing the sand at Daddy and into the water.
In the evenings we spent too much time drinking and the guys where telling war stories of their younger years. It was great. I would definitely do it again!
Here is a video of Nick swimming..
Is my voice really that annoying.. I hate the sound of it!

We did this with our extended family a few years ago and had a blast! I want to do it with friends. Too bad we're all poor!

Surprising that no kids would spin out of control with such a young group!
What kind of air bed did you have your son on? They make air beds now that are more geared towards children these days. That might be more appealing to him if needed in the future.

I got his bed from OnStepAhead. It actually looks like a boat but has a soft felt like cover over it.

We've wanted to do a 'friends vacation' for a while, but have been nervous, too. This helps me tons. I think there is just something about getting outta Dodge and relaxing...puts everyone in a better mood!
