Our Earth
So the other day I am taking the car to get serviced and I am behind a mini van, suddenly something white comes flying at my windshield and it startled me. Turned out it was just a wad of tissues or napkins. But it starteled the heck out of me. Next came a cigarette butt, then finally a plastic soda bottle. Realizing that these people were using the highway as thier personal trash can I decided I was going to get thier license plate number and report them. I was successfully able to get it but I was a bit disappointed when I called the local police department. When I talked to the dispatcher I said I wanted to report someone throwing trash out thier car window. I could hear her muffling laughter and it started to really anger me. Thier are signs up and down the highway that say 300 dollar fine for littering. Honestly, normally I would not take the trouble to call but when I saw the plastic bottle come out it really ticked me off. I really wish that if all of us just took a few simple measures we could improve our planet rather then destroy it. I'm assuming these people have kids since they were in a mini van and I thought what a bad example they are sending to thier family...

I can't decide what's worse...the litter or the person on the other end of the phone laughing about it. Maybe she should've considered that some yahoo throwing stuff out of his car, might startle someone enough to cause an accident. Wouldn't be all that funny then, would it? These are the types of things that make me fire off letters to the editor of our local paper.

Well, I am glad you called to report it. It's a shame that the authorities are rude enough to LAUGH at a good citizen!
I live in Fort Lauderdale, but drive to Miami regularly. There are always bums (crackheads) on the exit ramp. I used to call the police to report "loitering". I don't think they ever did anything though.

Sounds like a job for the A Team if you ask me. What jerks. I hate that too.

That is really pathetic that she laughed at you...that would have made me really mad! You were trying to do the right thing by reporting it, and they made you feel as if you did something stupid. Geesh. I'm sorry that happened to you.

Ugh - how IRRITATING! Both the people in front of you and the idiot that answered the phone.
At least you know you did the right thing. Forget those numbnuts!
