This is the time...
I heard an old favorite song today by Billy Joel. In a nutshell... This is the time to remember cause it will not last forever, these are the days to hold on too cause we won't although we want to!
My mom was a huge Billy Joel fan and on almost every trip down the shore we listened to the album called "The Bridge". When I hear this song I get taken back to my childhood days playing with my siblings down the shore. It's amazing want a simple tune can do. The memory influx is absolutely amazing. The beach, the sound of the gulls, the sand, the smell of my mom's perfume. It all came rushing back like it happened yesterday. Memories can be so intense. I'm glad we have them in most cases, especially ones like these.
I heard it on the radio on my way home from work. So I was feeling especially happy when I got home. My in-laws were at the house with the baby today. When I opened the door my son came running over to me singing in toddler language. He stood at my feet and said open, meaning open your coat and take it off. As soon as my coat was off the arms went up so I scooped him up. He gave me a big kiss, without being asked, and put his head in my shoulder. He proceeded to tell me all about his day and bring me every toy in his toy chest. He did ring around the rosie several times.
It's a great memory I hope I can keep it with me always and pass it on to him as he gets older!

I am glad you wrote it down, because it will keep that memory lucid through the years. Wonderful stuff.

Aw! Isn't it great when things like songs or smells take you back? Unless, of course, they're bad smells...like the fruity lotion that takes me back to being pregnant and nauseous!
